Curriculum

​Sacred Heart School provides an inclusive environment with intentionally small class sizes in which children can easily interact with each other and the teacher.  At the most basic level, we teach teach students foundational Christian values, impart knowledge and skills, while providing for a variety of student needs. The program is designed to benefit each child's spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Our eighth graders are well prepared to meet the challenges of private and public high school. 

Our curriculum is adopted and/or adapted from those promulgated by the Catholic School Offices of the Diocese of Providence and/or the Archdiocese of Hartford.  They are aligned to national content standards and in compliance with regulations of the Rhode Island Department of Education for non-public schools.

​Classes in art include explorations with pencils, crayons, paints, pastels, clays, and inks. Students learn new techniques with products including mixing different products to create art. They are exposed to new art forms and the works of various artists. Students are also expected to share their art with the community.

Our library promotes literacy and the enjoyment of reading. All students in Pre-K and grades K-3 attend library class once per week.

​Sacred Heart School’s Physical Education program is designed to promote physical fitness, teach various skills, and develop good sportsmanship. It also instills in students a desire to be physically active in their current lives and in the future.

The Sacred Heart School Music program (K-8) includes a general education which stresses learning music through performance. The areas of performance include keyboard, recorder, and guitar. All students learn to read music with voice being the primary application.
